Hanbury Countryside Show in Worcestershire (Saturday, July 2nd), Burwarton Show in Shropshire (Thursday, August 4th) and Moreton Show in Gloucestershire (Saturday, September 3rd) will award the Three Shires Cattle Trophy to the exhibitor who gains the most points across all three shows.
The respected award, with a £1,000 top prize, is sponsored by Chanelle Animal Health manufacturers of the Doramax Pour-on.
Kathryn Weston, Key Account Manager said, ‘The team at Chanelle Animal Health are truly honoured to be supporting such a prestigious competition as the Three Shires Cattle Trophy’.
Chanelle was founded in 1985 by farm animal veterinarian Michael Burke in the West of Ireland. Since then, the company has grown to manufacture products for 100 countries globally and employ 600 people, yet our family-business ethos and focus on UK agriculture remain stronger than ever.
Chanelle is committed to the future of the sustainable family farm model in the UK and continue to invest heavily in the research and development of new products, to help make British livestock farmers’ lives easier and help their animals to reach their potential.
Doramax Pour-on has been a huge addition to our growing portfolio. The product adds a new dimension to parasite control, drastically reducing the number of treatments and animal handling required via its long persistency. It has been phenomenally well received and is part of a long list of exciting new products that Chanelle will launch in the near future.
We wish all the competitors the very best of luck in the Three Shires Cattle Trophy this year!’
Handlers will accumulate points by showing their cattle at all three shows and the running total will be kept secret until the finale at Moreton Show. As well as the £1000 top prize, the runner up will receive £350 and £150 will go to third place.
Lynne Parkes, Moreton livestock secretary said: ‘It’ll be a bit like revealing the results of the X Factor for cattle! Our treble, involving all three shows, is aiming to attract some of the best cattle from across the country and we’d like to encourage handlers to compete for what will be the equivalent of a premier league title in cattle showing.’
Peter Kirton, chief cattle steward at Burwarton said: ‘This is a prestigious and exciting competition for cattle showing. This is the traditional cattle class with a modern twist, and we hope people will enjoy what we have to offer at all three shows.’
Gill Brian, cattle secretary at Hanbury said: ‘We are delighted to see the return of the Three Shires Cattle Trophy Competition this year, we hope that the competition will encourage increased support for cattle showing at each of the Shows. This in turn helps to promote the very best of British livestock farming’.
Our utmost thanks to Mr and Mrs White whose award winning Limousin cattle can be seen in the photograph. We look forward to seeing some of these quality cattle at the shows later this year.
