What’s On at Moreton Show 2023

The Moreton Show team are excited to present 165 acres of farming, food and family fun on Saturday 2nd September 2023.

CAPTION: Moreton Show 2023: 165 acres of farming, food and family fun returns on Saturday 2nd September with agri-tastic acts like the Shetland Pony Grand National (pictured in 2022).

Set in the heart of the North Cotswolds, Moreton Show is a firm favourite in the rural calendar. It’s a premier one-day agricultural show, which returns on Saturday 2nd September 2023 with all the best bits of the countryside packed into the beloved showground.

Moreton Show has been established for over 70 years and is now one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the country, attracting more than 20,000 visitors and 200 trade stands.

The show prides itself on its traditional values, providing a stage for local produce and crafts as well as championing the best in British agriculture and equine showing, all whilst delivering a family fun-packed, educational day out for all visitors.

In 2023, the Grand Arena will once again be filled with agri-tastic acts like the Shetland Pony Grand National, the Heavy Horse Parade and the Livestock Parade, a firm family favourite, with over 30 different breeds of animals in the ring at the same time!

The Rural Attractions Arena will, this year, include The BMX Show plus a very special and much-anticipated parade for the 65th anniversary celebration of the Series II Land Rover and the Clumber Spaniels.

Stuart Mace, Society Chairman said; ‘The Show team are delighted to present a new attraction in the form of the Sheep Shearing Competition and welcome the return of The Sheep Show. Find out about how to win tickets to the Show by checking our Facebook page – and local press – over the next few months. Keep an eye out for our ‘Where’s Woolly’ competition too!’

The Cotswold Raw Dog Arena will be packed with dogtastic fun, including the Strigidea Gun Dog Display and a great companion dog show for you to enter with your four-legged friends.

The Food & Drink Theatre was a huge success last year and returns with co-hosts Susie Whitfield, founder of The Cotswold Baking Workshop, and Vernon Harwood from BBC Radio Gloucester. The timetable for the Theatre is a real treat, with Susie co-ordinating events and demonstrating the art of creating the perfect macaron plus the Chocolate Genie, AKA Yvonne Everest, delighting attendees with a chocolatey demonstration.

Jess Parkes, Horse and Farms & Crops Secretary confirms: ‘Moreton Show 2023 really is farmtastic! There is a bumper crop of activities for families to get up close and personal with farm animals and learn a little more about the rural community. Why not go the whole hog and take a peek at the heavenly Hedgehog Rescue section too! It’s going to be a very special part of our Show!’

Jess continues: ‘The Horse Section of the show is thrilled to welcome a NEW Arena Eventer Challenge competition where a team of riders compete over a set of show jumps then a short course of cross-country fences in a race to finish in the fastest time without any penalties. This competition is always fast-paced and lots of fun for both competitors and spectators, so we are very excited to introduce it for its first year at Moreton Show!’

To encourage the next generation into farming, the Moreton Show team have also introduced Young Adult Classes in the Home & Garden section.
