Marion Bond Exhibition
28 April - 21 May
Light from the expansive skyscapes of The Cotswolds has inspired Marion Bond’s landscapes, as kaleidoscopic colours are intensified and details are cast into relief.
An admirer of The Scottish Colourists, Marion has taken Feste’s advice in ‘Twelfth Night’ to ‘fear no colours’ and has been emboldened to use a spectrum of hues to depict and to respond to a wide range of subjects. Local scenes and international locations are featured, from South Cerney, to Shoreham, Victoria (Australia) Her debut solo exhibition at The Corinium Museum Gallery, Cirencester will feature large acrylic paintings, giclee prints, digital photography and greeting cards.

Swan Lake
Thurs 19 May 2022, 7.15pm
The Royal Ballet | LIVE
This classic fairytale represents the battle between good and evil, and the attempt of love to conquer all. The magic of the lakes, forests and palaces is brought to life with glittering designs by John Macfarlane and a sublime score by Tchaikovsky. The Royal Ballet’s sumptuous production of Swan Lake returns to the Royal Opera House stage after its 2020 revival was interrupted by the pandemic’s closure of theatres. This classic of the repertory is testament to the late choreographer Liam Scarlett’s abiding love of classicism and innate musicality, which shine through this production.

Art and Archaeology of Belas Knap Longbarrow
Exhibition by Liz Poraj-Wilczynska
Fri 26 May – Sun 26 June
This exhibition showcases twenty years of exploration at Belas Knap long barrow. Artist, Elizabeth Poraj-Wilczynska, shares her observations using form, shape, colour, texture, light, feel, space and resonance. Her works, in the words of Professor Timothy Darvill, encourage people to ‘question conventional perspectives and use the archaeological imagination to open up new realms of thinking, experience and understanding.’
An immersive film recording sunrise and sunset at Belas Knap long barrow has been created by Richard Suckling of cavebearfilms.com and accompanies the exhibition.
Liz Poraj-Wilczynska is an artist and archaeographer who trained as an archaeological illustrator and has worked on archaeological sites throughout the county. In recent years she has broadened the scope of her work, overlaying archaeology with photography, painting, personal experience and social perspective. Liz investigates Genius Loci, sense of place and presence using insights to interact with the ghost landscape of the past. She co-authored ‘Disciplines of Dowsing’ with Tom Graves and also contributed a chapter to the recent publication, ‘Art in the Archaeological Imagination’ edited by Dragos Gheorghiu.
